Brainphonics is a Belgian spin-off from KU Leuven's Experimental Oto-rhino-laryngology research group, developing EEG-based hearing assessment technology. The company's mission is to provide objective, non-invasive hearing diagnostics that do not require active patient participation, addressing a critical gap in audiology for individuals with communication impairments.

The company's flagship product, CORGEE, is an objective test system that maps brain responses to everyday sound, speech, and language using cortical auditory evoked potential measurements. By analyzing neural entrainment of the speech envelope via EEG, CORGEE enables audiologists and ENT specialists to assess speech intelligibility and hearing aid benefit without relying on subjective self-report or patient cooperation. The technology draws on decades of research in auditory neuroscience conducted at KU Leuven.

CORGEE is currently undergoing clinical validation in partnership with the University Hospital of Leuven and three regional children's hearing rehabilitation centers. The primary clinical use case is assessing hearing in young children and preschoolers, where conventional behavioral audiometry is often unreliable. Brainphonics is also extending the technology to older adults at risk of age-related hearing loss through cross-border care innovation programs.
